Hayato and Emilia involved in the Second Savage Attack
The event, which has become known as the Second Savage Attack is among the major event where the savages started to attack mankind again. Amongst these locations that were attacked was the Gudenburg Empire, where a much younger Hayato and Emilia were both attacked by a savage where the two of them were infected with their virus and turned into variants (Emilia received a wound from one of the pincers of a savage and Hayato tried to suck out the virus).

During the Second Attack, a number of people lost their lives, but the mentioned people were Hayato's parents and Sakura's mother.

- The events of the Second Savage Attack led to the reasons for the main characters (Hayato Kisaragi and Emilia Gudenburg) to become Slayers; also and former antagonists (Nesat, Krovanh, and Nakri Olfred to become Hunters. This also stirred the birth of the Oriental Witch, Sakura Kirishima. All six of them are also variants.
